Norm "Stormin" Runkles
President
Norman W. Runkles Jr. for 20 years enjoyed being a Volunteer Firefighter / EMT, who now works for the City of Clearwater as the School Crossing Guard Coordinator. During my years as a Firefighter / EMT I served because I felt it was extremely important to serve and help those in need during their darkest moments of life. Serving with the Evergreen Vol Fire Dept as a Firefighter / EMT in the rural area of Haymarket Virginia was exciting and adventurous. Serving the Homosassa Vol Fire Dept in Homosassa Springs Florida was very exciting because of the many different geographic areas such as coastal areas along the Gulf of Mexico. During my years of service, I was on the Training Committee and served 3 years as the Treasurer. Gainesville Haymarket Vol Fire Dept was so exciting to serve with because it was a small town where everyone knew each other and made the family atmosphere real. Brunswick Vol Fire Dept was a very special time in my life as I moved back to my parent’s home town a new job and joined the Dept to help in my spare time. After joining I was sent to the University of Maryland Fire Academy to take Firefighter classes needed to be able to serve the Dept and citizens.
